'Searching for Rays' follows marine biologists Janis Argeswara and Tim Noack on their mission to study and protect manta and devil rays across the Indonesian archipelago. The film is a portrait of the collaboration between MANTAHARI and the Marine Megafauna Foundation — a partnership that, alongside its research work, supports Indonesian youth in marine science and marine conservation.
At its heart, the story follows the effort to map the movements of manta rays between Bali and Komodo, and the waters in between. From remote aggregation sites to quiet stretches of coastline, it is a portrait of dedication — of people searching, often against the odds, for the rays that quietly hold our oceans together.
